Today, Maharashtra Governor Rakesh Bais and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde paid their respects to the lives lost in the Mumbai terrorist attacks. The three-day-long tragedy is often referred to as the ’26/11 Mumbai terror attacks’. Bais and Shinde placed floral tributes at the memorial dedicated to the fallen in the police commissioner’s rest house in South Mumbai. Alongside senior police officials, they honored the martyred individuals.

The ruthless assault carried out by the Pakistani extremist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) tragically claimed the lives of 166 people and left over 300 injured. Just before the anniversary of this dreadful incident, Israel confirmed once again that LeT is a terrorist organization. Six innocent lives were lost when these attackers held people hostage at Nariman House, a Jewish community center. All this unfolded amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Here’s how events unfolded: November 22: 10 terrorists are found with 6 to 7 magazines each containing a charge of 30 bullets, along with 400 bullets that were not loaded in the magazine. They also find 8 hand grenades, an AK-47 assault rifle, an automatic loading revolver, credit cards, and a supply of dry fruits. November 23: Militants hijack an Indian boat, Kuber, killing four fishermen. They force the captain to head towards India.
On November 26th: Approaching within four nautical miles (7 kilometers) of Mumbai, the terrorists killed the captain of the Kuber. Afterward, they boarded three fast boats and headed toward Colaba jetty. At 08:10 AM, the boat docked at Machhimar Nagar in Mumbai’s Cuffe Parade area. Six terrorists disembarked here while the others remained on the shore. When questioned by local residents about their occupation, they claimed to be students. At 08:30 AM, another group disembarked at Badhwar Park in Colaba, Cuffe Parade. When approached by Marathi-speaking fishermen, they asked them not to interfere and then dispersed in different directions.
Gunshots were heard at Leopold Cafe, resulting in the loss of 10 lives and injuries to many, including a Reuters news reporter. Additionally, explosives were planted in two taxis, causing the death of five individuals and injuring 15. Four assailants entered the Taj Mahal Hotel, two targeted the Oberoi Trident, and two infiltrated Nariman House. Meanwhile, Ajmal Kasab and Ismail took a taxi to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).
At 09:20 PM, armed with AK-47 and AK74U rifles, Kasab and Ismail launched an attack at CSMT. Their gunfire and grenade attacks resulted in the deaths of 58 people and injured 104 others. At 10:30 pm, Kasab and Ismail headed towards Cama Hospital. As they approached, the hospital staff locked the rooms. A confrontation with the terrorists resulted in the deaths of ATS chief Hemant Karkare and three officers. The terrorists attempted to hijack a jeep but were intercepted near Girgaum Chowpatty by the Gamdevi police. Ismail was killed, and Kasab was arrested.
On November 28th: Commando operations concluded at the Oberoi Hotel, resulting in the discovery of 24 bodies and the rescue of 143 hostages. Two terrorists were neutralized. At 07:30 am, NSG commandos were deployed onto the roof of Nariman House via fast-roping from helicopters, with snipers positioned in nearby buildings to prevent attacks on the commandos. At 07:30 pm, it was discovered by the commandos that all six hostages, including the rabbi and his wife, had been tortured and killed.
At 08:30 AM, commandos engaged in an intense gun battle, neutralizing two terrorists and declaring the conclusion of the Nariman House operation. November 29th: At 08:00 AM, commandos announced gaining control of the Taj Hotel, although room-to-room searches were ongoing. There was jubilation on the streets. By 04:20 PM, the Taj Mahal Hotel was reported to be completely under government control.
