Aman Sehrawat Reaches Semifinals in Paris Olympics Wrestling

Aman Sehrawat has qualified for the semifinals in the men’s 57 kg freestyle wrestling at the Paris Olympics after defeating Russian wrestler Abakarov Zelimkhan. Aman will next face Japanese wrestler Rei Higuchi in the semifinals later tonight.

Aman advanced to the semifinals after a decisive win over Zelimkhan, following an earlier victory against a competitor from Macedonia. This success has reignited hopes for an Indian wrestling medal, especially after Vinesh Phogat’s disappointment on August 7. Aman started the match cautiously, similar to his previous bout, but soon executed a brilliant single-leg takedown. Although Abakarov managed to escape, Aman still secured a 3-0 lead. In the second half, Aman shifted to a more aggressive strategy.

Right from the start, Aman showcased an impressive offensive approach. He successfully trapped Abakarov again with a single-leg takedown and demonstrated his skill by rolling his opponent over three times, winning by technical superiority. The match ended with Aman leading 11-0, prompting the umpires to declare him the winner.
