Ayodhya is preparing for the opening of Ram temple.

Ayodhya is currently bustling with preparations for the opening of the Ram Mandir on January 22, but the city has long attracted pilgrims and tourists lured by its rich mythology and historical significance. Ayodhya is being transformed and substantial restorations are ongoing to create a vibrant and dynamic ambiance in anticipation of this historic occasion.

How is Ayodhya and what are the new changes in it?

Until a few years ago, Ayodhya was a small and quiet municipal council within the former Faizabad district. In 2018, Faizabad and Ayodhya merged, falling under the jurisdiction of the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation. What was once a tranquil town has undergone a significant transformation, particularly in the old Ayodhya region, with extensive renovations taking place ahead of the Ram Mandir’s inauguration on January 22. This area, spanning about 133.67 in real estate terms, has become a focal point for development.

The state government has spared no effort to ensure that Ayodhya evolves from its historical roots into a modern city while preserving its cultural traditions. The landscape, characterized by narrow and crowded bylanes, has gradually changed since the November 2019 Supreme Court verdict that paved the way for the construction of the Ram temple. The Ayodhya master plan for 2031 received approval a year ago from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, marking the commencement of Ayodhya’s genuine reconstruction.

Ram Mandir Construction

The construction of the Ram Mandir commenced on August 5, 2020, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying the foundation stone. In the subsequent years, the development of the temple progressed with great dedication. Designed in the traditional Nagara style, the Ram Mandir complex will stretch 380 feet in length, 250 feet in width, and soar to an impressive height of 161 feet.

The temple structure boasts multiple floors, each standing at 20 feet high, adorned with a remarkable arrangement of 392 pillars and 44 gates. This temple, dedicated to Lord Ram in Ayodhya, holds profound cultural, religious, and historical significance for millions of people across India.
