A missile strike has ignited a fire on a merchant vessel navigating the Indian Ocean, purportedly associated with Israel. According to the latest reports from the US Pentagon, an Iranian drone assault targeted a chemical tanker. In response, the Indian Coast Guard promptly dispatched a support vessel for urgent assistance.
The Pentagon spokesperson disclosed that the motor vessel, Kemp Pluto—a Japanese-owned chemical tanker operated by the Netherlands under the Liberian flag—was struck around 10:00 AM local time in the Indian Ocean. The attack, executed by a one-way drone launched from Iran, occurred roughly 200 nautical miles off the Indian coast. The ship’s voyage originated from the Jubal Port in Saudi Arabia, headed for the Bangalore Port in Karnataka, South India. The incident took place near Gujarat, along the Western Coast of India.
In the wake of the drone attack, the Indian Coast Guard mobilized the ICGS Vikram to aid the distressed merchant ship. Fortunately, all crew members, including the 20 Indian nationals aboard the targeted vessel, are reported to be unharmed. An immediate assessment was conducted by an Indian naval aircraft, and nearby ships were alerted by the Coast Guard to provide assistance in the area.
