The situation in Gaza is heart-wrenching. Amid Israel’s ongoing attacks, the conditions are worsening. The rising casualties, forced displacements, and scarcity of essentials like food and fuel have compounded their struggles, now exacerbated by heavy rains.
Overnight showers flooded the streets, inundating shelters where thousands sought refuge. Many tents collapsed, rendering them uninhabitable. The situation mirrors at the Alaksa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza, where rainwater has flooded sheltered areas.
The heavy rain has disrupted food distribution, posing challenges for volunteers cooking in makeshift kitchens to provide enough food. Gazans endure these difficulties amidst relentless airstrikes.
The distressing scenes, particularly in southern Gaza, depict multiple airstrikes reported in parts of Rafa on Wednesday. Rainfall has added to the woes of the people there too. Officials warn that Gazans are rapidly exhausting their time and options. It’s a living nightmare. Most of Gaza’s population has been compelled to relocate, mainly to the southern part of the strip. Rafa is now home to well over a million people.
