Google Down: US and UK Users Report Widespread Outage

In the US, 57% of reported problems were related to search issues, 31% were about website troubles, and 11% involved Google Drive. As millions of Americans began their workweek, many were unable to send emails, search for content, or watch videos during their commutes. DownDetector’s issue map highlighted significant spikes in Los Angeles, New York City, Boston, and Chicago. Meanwhile, users in the UK have reported over 11,000 issues to DownDetector, experiencing the worst of the outage.

In the US, 57% of the issues were related to search, 32% to the website, and 11% to Google Drive. Frustrated users have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share their experiences and check if others are encountering similar problems.

One X user, Barry Bureau, humorously remarked, “The scary part of Google being down for 20 minutes is that, during that time, everyone had to depend on their knowledge. Incredibly, we survived.”
