ICC has announced the schedule for the Under-19 World Cup 2024. But the surprising part is that in this ICC event, India and Pakistan won’t have their face-off in the initial league round.
The first match of the upcoming World Cup is scheduled for January 19, 2024. Meanwhile, the final match will take place on February 11, 2024, at Willowmoore Park. The 15th edition of the World Cup 2024 will comprise a total of 41 matches, combining league rounds and knockout stages.
The World Cup will be played in a new format, with 16 teams divided into four groups of four teams each. Then the top three teams from each group will progress to the Super Six round, from where the path to the semifinals and then the final will be determined.
The Indian team has been the most successful team in the Under-19 World Cup history. India has won the Under-19 World Cup five times, with the last victory in 2022. Additionally, the Indian Under-19 team finished as runners-up in 2016 and 2020.
Regarding Team India’s schedule in the World Cup, they are in Group A with Bangladesh, Ireland, and the USA. All three of India’s group matches will be played in Bloemfontein. India will play their first match against Bangladesh on January 20, followed by a match against Ireland on January 25. The final league round match for India is against the USA on January 28. Meanwhile, Pakistan is placed in Group D alongside Afghanistan, New Zealand, and Nepal. This means that India and Pakistan will compete in their respective league matches to advance to the Super Six round. Young batsman Uday Saharan has been entrusted with leading the Indian team in the Under-19 World Cup.
