Indian Navy Day 2023: Honoring Shivaji’s 350th Coronation Anniversary in Spectacular Naval Celebrations

India is celebrating its Navy Day today. This year’s special celebrations are being held in India’s Western Peninsula in the Maharashtra State’s Sandhu Durg Fort. Indian Prime Minister will attend the event after unveiling a statue of legendary warrior king, Shivaji Maharaj. According to the Prime Minister’s office, Modi will also witness the operational demonstrations by Indian Navy ships, submarines, aircraft, and Special Forces from Tarkarli Beach.

A release from the Prime Minister’s office said, and I’m quoting here, Navy Day 2023 celebrations at Sindhudurg pay homage to the rich maritime heritage of Chhatrapati, Shivaji Maharaj, whose seal inspired the new naval sign, which was adopted last year when the Prime Minister commissioned the first indigenous aircraft carrier, India’s very own INS Vikrant. This year, the Indian Navy will also carry out a detailed display of various vessels with distinct capacities. Twenty warships along with 40 aircraft, including MiG-29K and LCA, Navy, will take part in the demonstrations.

The event will feature high-speed boats, skydivers, search and rescue demonstrations, and the INS Vikramaditya will also join the exercises along with helicopter drills and fly past by aircraft and helicopters. The celebrations commemorate the Indian Navy’s 1971 win. During Operation Trident in the war for Bangladesh’s independence.
