Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya can return to his old team Mumbai Indians. There has been a discussion regarding this between both teams Gujarat and Mumbai. However, it is not yet known whether there will be trading of players or some other deal has been made. Currently Rohit Sharma is the captain of Mumbai and he is also the captain of the Indian ODI team.
Rohit has not played international T-20 cricket for the last one year. Whenever Hardik is doing the same, Hardik is captaining Team India. A BCCI member said that all the teams will have to submit their final lists by Sunday. Only then can something be said officially. Rohit should captain Mumbai till next year’s IPL and after that, Hardik should captain Mumbai after playing T20 World Cup.
Hardik has played for Mumbai before. However, if Hardik joins Mumbai, they will have to release a player or make a trade. Mumbai had around 50 lakhs left in their purse, and this year, the BCCI has increased the budget by five crores to buy players.
Gujarat could think about appointing Shubman Gill as their captain in such a circumstance. Gill has been suggested to become the future captain. Gujarat had paid 15 crores to purchase Hardik, who was named captain in 2022. The team was the runner-up the next season, but he had already led them to victory the year before.
