Iranian army seizes cargo ship MSC Aries: 17 Indian members also included

Iranian forces seized the cargo ship MSC Aries near the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. The incident also involved 17 Indian members who were part of the crew.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discussed the matter with his Iranian counterpart H Amirabdollahian, who is part of the 25-member crew of the ship. The Foreign Minister discussed the issue and pledged cooperation over the incident off the coast of UAE.

Following the incident, the Indian government immediately contacted Iranian authorities and sought the safety and release of 17 Indian nationals. Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar stated the matter that all parties will remain in touch and the situation will be resolved peacefully.
