Many people can’t relate to this. But the beauty of these two films was that even the storytelling here didn’t resonate much. It wasn’t trying too hard for us to connect.
It was just flowing naturally, capturing the dynamics of friendship in such a fantastic way that it didn’t matter if the characters were rich or poor. The essence they were portraying, it felt very genuine. Dates, Why-D Films, and Landmark Films are the polar opposites of these two movies because they drive the picture with too much force. While watching Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, you feel included, you feel like you’re part of that gang, you’re watching on screen, but when you get lost, where will we look, and it wanted to do just that. But it probably made you feel very eliminated.

Somewhere or the other, you’ll still relate once again. But their socio-economic standing portrayed in the movie, which showcases their liveliness, the employment shown, it’s not a small thing. The picture isn’t just a superficial touchpoint. In fact, a major chunk talks about their vibrancy. How actually making money is laughable, and you’ll only relate through their so-called struggles when you experience them. In the morning or in the daily hustle. Only one person can relate to the struggles of the rich kids.
The struggle, in a shot, reflects what to think about the nepotism debate, even that’s crystal clear. In that shot, Adarsh Gaurav creates a fake account and leaves hate comments out of anger. What’s Arjun Brien and the owner of the film doing on Karan Johar’s profile, Joya Akhtar wants to convey in a very simple and loud message. And that is that people hate Karan Johar for no reason. He becomes the target of people’s hate for no reason. No reason, but everyone knows that it’s responsible for spreading nepotism in the industry. Joya, you actually think people are so naive and dumb.

In the beginning, I told you there’s something very surprising that maybe we don’t get to see in this lifetime, but it’s happening. Guess what it is I couldn’t have believed it myself. But Ananya Pandey’s acting has improved significantly. Compare to the past performances. Now, if someone forcibly trolls her acting in the film, let them. But as per me, brother, her visible improvement is in all of her performances in this picture. It’s pretty good. Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gaurav, both are very good artists. They are very good actors, again. But the proof is that their entire talent fails due to the script and screenplay.
Joya Akhtar
Joya Akhtar’s film ‘One Percent’ is under her direction. The movie appeals to the rich kids, and since it’s 2023, what’s mandatory in the film. Even mental trauma, that too, portrayed very well. Granted, you’re vocal about mental trauma. But Siddhant Chaturvedi’s character, who suffers from mental trauma and actually becomes a sex addict, that’s what he introduces here. These things, it’s I-don’t-know-how-to-come-down-to-the-level-to-comment.
How are the songs of this movie
The songs in the movie are terrific. The entire album is very good, and the cinematography is top-notch, making the movie visually appealing. Apart from these two things, this film lacks depth in its storytelling. Very, very capable filmmakers. But to be very honest once again, I expected something from Zoya that would make us feel included. We can relate to the sting. It’s not like this is made only for the one percent of the rich population. So overall, this film tries very hard to be relatable but ends up eliminating itself in the process. It targets the audience with a Netflix subscription. I wonder how they actually managed to keep the Cupid City of Lakes. If you have no plans for the weekend, if you’ve decided to waste your time, throw in some fuel and light the fire. This film is for free.
