Post-Match Review: Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Chelsea in the Premier League

Despite the early Sunday start, Chelsea had a strong beginning on this Christmas Eve game. We came close to scoring within the first five minutes, with Armando Broja missing a chance after a great pass from Raheem Sterling. Nico Jackson then missed another opportunity from Sterling’s pass, followed by Sterling himself missing a golden chance, a clear 3-on-none situation.

Following those exciting initial 30 minutes, despite our dominance, we couldn’t change the score. As often happens, the home team stepped up their game and started controlling the match, especially with their threat on set pieces. However, Chelsea managed to reach halftime without letting any goals in.

The second half kicked off with a couple of shaky moments from our central defense duo, hinting at the trouble ahead. Sadly, Wolves capitalized on one of their many corner kicks, and Mario Lemina scored without even needing to jump. Our defense on set pieces was shocking yet again.

We did try to level the score. Christopher Nkunku had a shot cleared off the line, and Sterling faced a solid block from Craig Dawson, injuring himself but stopping a goal.

Honestly, we struggled to convert chances today. It felt like even if we had double the time, scoring might have been tough. Wolves grabbed a late second goal in stoppage time, and although Nkunku found the net later, the two avoidable goals we conceded made the loss even more frustrating.
