The UK’s plan to raise the salary threshold for family visas is now set to unfold gradually instead of happening all at once. The threshold, crucial for sponsoring a spouse or partner, will be increased in stages instead of immediately jumping to the proposed higher amount. This adjustment marks a change in approach by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who is advocating for immigration reforms. Initially, the salary was expected to surge to $36,827 in early 2024 from its current level of $23,620. However, this raise will now occur in steps, with two more increments planned. The full salary threshold for family visas will come into effect by 2025, as per recent statements by British Interior Minister James Cleverley, who mentioned a final threshold of $49,145 during a parliamentary session earlier this month.
British Interior Minister James Cleverly what did he say
He Say we will ensure people only bring dependents who they can support financially by raising the minimum income for family visas to the same threshold as the minimum salary threshold for skilled workers, which is $38,700 this is what he said .
What did the residents say after this
Residents are expressing doubts about this decision, concerned that it will place excessive strain on families, forcing them to scramble to meet the visa criteria. There’s a fear looming among many that these new regulations might lead to separation from their loved ones.
