Suryakumar Yadav returned to Mumbai Indians in May, was out due to injury

Ahead of their next Indian Premier League 2024 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians will get a much-needed boost in the form of Suryakumar Yadav. According to multiple reports, the talented T20 batsman will indeed join struggling MI after receiving approval from the National Cricket Academy. The timing of Suryakumar’s return to MI couldn’t be better for the team, which is looking for a change after three consecutive IPL defeats.

Surya could not play the first three matches due to a fitness problem. Surya had groin surgery in Germany in January this year. Surya underwent surgery for the second time for his groin injury. After this, he was undergoing rehab at NCA in Bengaluru.

Suryakumar was ruled out of competitive cricket after suffering an ankle injury during the match against South Africa in December. His return was further delayed due to his January sports hernia surgery; Following the procedure, he was sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, where he is undergoing rigorous rehabilitation. Following a Grade 2 injury to his ankle, Surya initially suffered discomfort but was eventually cleared by the NCA.

When Surya returns, he is expected to take the third position, which is occupied by Naman Dheer. Scores of 20, 30, and a golden duck show that the 24-year-old batsman has not taken off, whereas SKY has spent his entire MI cricket career at No. 3. The return of Suryakumar, the top-ranked T20I batsman in the world who scored more than 600 runs including one century and five half-centuries in the last IPL season, should at least partially ease MI’s ongoing problems.
