Tata Motors Launches Tata Curvv EV and ICE Versions

Tata Motors has officially launched the highly anticipated Tata Curvv, offering both electric (EV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions of the vehicle. The Tata Curvv EV is available at a starting price of ₹17.50 lakh.

  • The Tata Curvv EV 45 is priced between ₹17.49 lakh and ₹19.29 lakh.
  • The Curvv EV 55 is priced between ₹19.25 lakh and ₹21.99 lakh.

The event was inaugurated by Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors, who emphasized the significant progress the company has made in the electric vehicle sector. He noted that electric vehicles now account for 12% of Tata Motors’ sales, demonstrating the rapid growth of their EV portfolio, which is already the largest in India. This achievement comes just four years after the launch of the Nexon EV.

Chandra also highlighted the rapid expansion of India’s charger network, which is expected to double by the end of the decade. The Tata Curvv EV, equipped with a 1.2C charging rate, offers a range of 150 km with just 15 minutes of charging. The vehicle boasts a total range of 585 km, with a realistic range estimated between 400 and 425 km. It offers two battery pack options:

  • A 45 kWh pack with a claimed range of 502 km (real-world range up to 350 km).
  • A 55 kWh pack with a claimed range of 585 km (real-world range up to 425 km).

The Curvv EV also features vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle functionality, adding to its versatility.

For safety, the Curvv EV is equipped with six airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), all-wheel disc brakes, and acoustic alerts for pedestrian safety. It’s equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and practical features like a 500-litre boot and a fully usable front trunk (frunk).

The Tata Curvv ICE version offers three engine choices: two petrol and one diesel. The petrol variants include the new Hyperion GDi engine, delivering 125 hp and 225 Nm of torque. The diesel engine will feature a dual-clutch transmission, a first for Tata Motors.

Key features shared by both versions of the Tata Curvv include:

  • 18-inch wheels
  • Ground clearance of 190 mm
  • Water-wading depth of 450 mm
  • Balanced 50:50 weight distribution
  • 500 litres of boot capacity
