Terrorist attack in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir

On 4 May, an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy was attacked by terrorists in Poonch. One soldier was killed and four were injured. The IAF reported that air warriors retaliated.

Five IAF personnel were injured in the attack and were taken to hospital for medical treatment. One air warrior was killed,”

In Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists attacked an Indian Air Force vehicle convoy. Local military units have launched a cordon and search in the area. The convoy has been secured and an investigation is underway. The spot where the militants opened fire is far from the district headquarters. The army evacuated the injured from the area.

In 2019, the Center abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, but since then terrorist violence has increased in the Poonch-Rajouri area. The 220 km Line of Control here is with Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The third terrorist attack took place here in 2024. In April, militants killed an army man’s brother and a village defense group member in separate attacks.

There was no loss of life in the attack on an Indian Air Force convoy in Poonch district on Saturday. Earlier this year in January, terrorists had opened fire on an army convoy, following which security forces launched a search operation. Today, at around 6 pm, there was a firing by terrorists on a convoy of vehicles of security forces near Krishna Ghati in the Poonch sector, but there was no damage to our troops.
