Native Kuwaitis are people who lived in Kuwait before 1920, including their descendants. Kuwaiti citizenship is granted by

 birth to persons born to a Kuwaiti father or to unknown parents within Kuwait. This decree could grant citizenship upon reaching

adulthood to individuals born to Kuwaiti mothers with unknown fathers.  Non-Kuwaitis can obtain citizenship after 20 yearsof residence

with stable income, clean record, proficiency in Arabic, Islamic faith for 5 years and meeting the demands of essential services.

Only 4,000 foreigners can become citizens per year, who require residency, good reputation, Arabic fluency and employment in Kuwait.
