What do astronauts eat in space and what difficulties do they face?

If we have to go to space then we have to use rockets or spacecraft. Astronauts go into space only with the help of spacecraft.  You must be wondering how they live there, how they eat food, how the bathroom is, and most importantly, how they return to earth.

“Astronauts going to space are given many types of training.”

Medical Training

Astronauts are given special medical training. First of all, their mental and physical health is checked whether they will be afraid of going to space or not and whether they are completely fit or not.

They have to undergo psychological and mental testing and in such a situation, astronauts who are not fit for space travel are kept out of it.

Apart from this, even after going into space, all these astronauts connect with psychologists sitting on the earth to adjust to the stressful environment there.

Language

Astronauts also have to pay special attention to communication and their language. Along with English, they should also know some foreign languages like Russian.

NASA teaches its astronauts how to spacewalk in a 7-meter-deep swimming pool at the Johnson Space Center. There is a space agency like NASA that examines the astronauts who go out for several months so that they can become capable astronauts.

How often do astronauts go to space?

The vehicle by which astronauts go into space is called a spacecraft, this spacecraft never takes off from the Earth, rather it needs a medium for this and the name of that medium is a rocket.

These spacecraft reach space only with the help of rockets. A rocket is a kind of engine whose main function is to take the payload to space. This engine of the rocket is also called the main engine and booster rockets are fitted on the outside of the rocket. With the help of which extra thrust can be generated in the rocket when needed this extra thrust helps in taking the rocket out of the earth’s gravity.

What do astronauts eat and do in space?

Frozen foods are specially prepared for astronauts in space that do not contain water and can be eaten like fruits. Now the calorie intake of each astronaut is also taken care of on the ISS (International Space Station).

Fruits, dried fruits, peanut butter, chicken, beef, seafood, candy, and brownies are all available to the astronauts. Beverages also include coffee, tea, orange juice, lemonade, and fruit punch.

Astronauts are seen only in space suits. This space suit works like a chamber for astronauts which protects them from cold, heat, and extremely fine meteorites. And also helps in establishing communication from space to Earth. On the back of the space suit is a backpack containing oxygen water and batteries.

The weight of these space suits is more than 82 kg. The 82 kg space suit is very heavy for Earth, but there is no gravity in space, so there is no weight problem there and it seems quite light.

The space suit is so complex that it takes 45 minutes to 1 hour to put on. Astronauts wear their undergarments inside it and these undergarments are also of different types which keep them cool from inside.

All astronauts float or fly in space in some way and this is believed to be due to the absence of gravity. To walk inside the spacecraft, astronauts have to push themselves forward or backward by grabbing the surrounding surface, handles, etc. to move from one place to another.

If an astronaut has to get out of the rocket for some work and go for a walk in the void space, then for this he has to wear some special clothes now if he has to go on any spacecraft or satellite, etc.

If any repair work has to be done on the surface, they work by tying themselves with a safety rope to the handle, etc. installed outside so that they do not get swept into the space.

Astronauts set their tasks as per their wishes. All these astronauts have a special routine that is decided even before they go into space. The daily routine of these astronauts is fixed in space or on the International Space Station.

NASA astronaut Shannon Walker wrote in an article that our day starts at 6:00 in the morning. The first thing we do after waking up is look at the day’s schedule and also check the information sent by the command center. Breakfast is served around 7:30, after which all control centers check that no center has sent any additional information, then everyone begins their day’s work and sleeps by 9:30 pm.

How do astronauts come to Earth from space?

When astronauts go into space they come out of the earth’s gravitational force with a rocket and after going into space this rocket gets separated from the spacecraft and falls back to earth, so in their return the rocket’s There is no role, but it has a role. The spacecraft itself revolves around the Earth.

As it enters Earth’s atmosphere, the spacecraft faces some challenging wind and hot air. This air is so hot that its friction can cause the spacecraft to burn to ashes and to avoid this, there is a special air above the spacecraft. A heat-resistant sheet is applied. Now if for some reason this sheet breaks then it becomes difficult for the spacecraft to return safely to Earth.

When the spacecraft comes near the Earth’s surface, it becomes parallel to the surface. The landing of this spacecraft is similar to that of an airplane but the landing of the spacecraft is not so easy because the speed of this spacecraft is very high at the time of landing. It is at a high altitude and because of this, the parachute opens from the back during landing. Now most spacecraft are landed on runways, but there are some spacecraft whose landing is done in the sea. like mercury,  Gemini, Apollo, etc.
