Women in Blue, a web series created by Emmy Award winners Pablo Aramendi and Fernando Rovzar, is coming soon to OTT. It will be released on AppleTV+ on July 31.
Women In Blue
According to AppleTV+, Women in Blue is set in 1970 and based on true events. It tells the story of four women who join Mexico’s first female police department, despite their society’s disapproval. They later discover that the force is just a publicity stunt to distract from a brutal serial killer. The women—María (Bárbara Mori), a young rebel; Ángeles (Ximena Sariñana); Gabina (Amorita Rasgado), whose father is a famous police officer; and Valentina (Natalia Téllez)—start a secret investigation to catch the killer, something only one male officer has been able to do.

Women In Blue plot
Set in 1970, “Women In Blue” is about four women who join Mexico’s first female police force, going against the strict norms of the time. They soon realize the force was created to distract people from a brutal serial killer on the loose. As more victims are found, Maria (Bárbara Mori) becomes determined to catch the killer. She teams up with Gabina (Amorita Rasgado), whose father is a famous cop; Ángeles (Ximena Sariñana), a smart fingerprint analyst; and Valentina (Natalia Téllez), a young rebel. Together, they start a secret investigation to catch the killer and succeed where the men have failed.

“Mariá is a dedicated mother and loyal wife who believed having a good husband was the key to happiness,” says Bárbara Mori. “Her view changes when she joins the police force and meets strong women who inspire her to find her true potential.”
“Gabina always wanted to be a police officer. When she leaves home, she realizes she had no freedom,” says Amorita Rasgado, who plays Gabina. “Despite their struggles, these women come together and grow.”
Ángeles, played by Sariñana, joins the police force and, for the first time, feels valued for her abilities. “In those times, it was hard to be different. This is the first place where she feels completely accepted,” Sariñana explains.
“Showrunner Fernando Rovzar met real women who joined the police force back then and documented their stories,” says Natalia Téllez, who plays Valentina, Mariá’s spirited younger sister. “These women didn’t realize how far their decisions would go and how they would start a revolution for women in Mexico. They are pioneers, and we felt a strong responsibility to represent them accurately.”
