WPL Auction 2024: Live Updates & Full Details Today

The Women’s Premier League will hold player auctions for its new 2024 season on December 9th in Mumbai. A total of 165 players have registered for the auction, including 104 Indian and 61 foreign players. Among them, 56 players are capped and 109 are uncapped. In the WPL 2024 auction, franchises can bid on 30 women players out of the total pool. Five teams have 30 empty slots, while there are nine vacancies for foreign players. All franchises are gearing up for this opportunity.

West Indies’ player Deandra Dottin and Ireland’s Kim Garth have been placed in the first category of players for the Women’s Premier League auction. Both players have a base price of ₹50 lakhs. Gujarat Joint Press currently holds the highest remaining amount before the auction, with ₹5.95 crores in hand. Uttar Pradesh Warriors have ₹4 crores, Royal Challengers Bangalore have ₹3.35 crores, Delhi Capitals have ₹2.25 crores, and Mumbai Indians have ₹2.1 crores left. In total, the five franchises have a remaining amount of ₹17.65 crores before the auction.

Like last season, only five teams will play in this season also. Before the auction, a total of 60 players from Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat United and UP Warriors have been retained. Of these, 21 are foreign players. The second season of the W EPL is expected to take place in February-March in 2024. Last season, under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, Mumbai Indians won the first title.
